Achieving good grades can save you money on car insurance

STUDIES SHOW: Student drivers who achieve good grades may be better drivers, often have cleaner driving records and higher insurance scores.

Most auto insurance companies will offer a Good Student Discount to students who rank in the upper 20 percent of their class, have a B or 3.0 average or are on the Honor Roll or Dean's List.

Most companies require that the student be between 16 and 25 years old and be enrolled full time in a high school, community college or university. You may not need to prove your great grades in order to get a quote, but after you purchase your insurance policy your car insurance company will often ask for official documentation. Proof of grades may vary from one company to the next but often an insurance company will ask for a copy of your transcripts or a letter from your school.

Don't have the best Grades? That's OK…

In some states, teen drivers can also take an accredited young driver safety class which, upon passing, may make them eligible for discounts.

To find a driving school in your area, Please visit the Driving School Association of the Americas Inc and search for a professional driving school in your state.
